The world is a space
where a surprising amount of different, interesting, and talented people live.
People who dream, construct and give their time and work to help those who are
less fortunate. People who give their knowledge and effort to preserve natural
resources or save animals. People who make music, make us smile with a song or
an applause. People who live teaching others how to take care and enjoy what
the planet gives us. They’re strong, weak, big, small, young and old people.
There’s an infinite amount of people, but something that all of them have in
common, everyone including you and me, is that they are fantastic people.
This is the premise of
the 2013 Los Mangos Library Summer Course.
It’ll be four wonderful weeks where there will
be dozens of activities related to the arts, culture, and environmental
conservation, as well as recreational novelties that stimulate team-work,
patience and the tenacity to achieve their goals and, above all, to learn from
others in a festive environment of respect and cooperation.
The course has three specific objectives. 1.
Send a positive message to boys and girls. Make them feel like and make them
know that they are fantastic people. 2. Make them conscious through super fun
activities about other equally fantastic people, in spite of their limitations.
3. Encourage them to create a vision of a fantastic future where they can
contribute with their grain of sand to improve our world.
Among other activities, we’ll have singing, music and dance with the
teacher Alexa Mozqueda (singer, dancer and actress. Currently Los Mangos
Library dance initiation class teacher.) Drawing,
painting, engraving, mural, modelling, etc. lead by Claudia Vázquez
(self-taught artist and graphic designer. Children’s painting class teacher
during recent years) and gardening
taught by Camila Aguirre (ecologist and member of the musical duet Frixoleros).
There will be a pool and three
theme-centered camp nights: Disco night, Talent-show night and Costumes
night. This year we’ll also have Gymkana,
a rally-type activity that’s really fun. Finally, the participation of
civil associations such as Fundación Down, the CANICA program, Impulso de
Águila, H. Cuerpo de Bomberos (Firemen) and others stand out.
