¡Taller de Cine y Apreciación Cinematográfica en Puerto Vallarta!

En la actualidad estamos permanentemente influenciados por la imagen y el relato de esa imagen, pero poco conocemos de su lenguaje y de cómo podemos hacer frente a un mejor análisis del mensaje que se nos transmite.

Objetivo: En este Taller de Apreciación Cinematográfica daremos formación para llegar a una mayor comprensión de las películas que habitualmente vemos y por tanto enriquecer el debate con nuevas herramientas.

• Primeras Escuelas Cinematográficas
• El Lenguaje Cinematográfico
• La Construcción del Guión y los Personajes
• Análisis y Presentación de Trabajos Prácticos

Eighth Annual Puerto Vallarta Writers’ Conference

Dates: 22-24 February 2013

Location: Biblioteca Los Mangos, Avenida Francisco Villa 1001, Esq., Circunvalación del Róbalo, 48310 Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico

Format: Workshops, seminars & panel discussions on the craft and art of writing.

Special Features & Events:

Friday afternoon—Registration, workshops & pitch sessions.

Friday evening—Keynote Speaker, David Lyons, cocktail reception afterward.

Saturday, all day—Registration, seminars and panel discussions.

Sunday morning—workshops and closing panel discussion.

Sunday afternoon—Book Fair and Entertainment on Library Lawn. Conference attendees are encouraged to bring books to sell.

Cost for attendance is $150 U.S. or 2000 pesos.

Seating for speakers and workshops is limited so early registration will guarantee your participation.

Registrants will receive further e-mails to indicate workshop choices. Again, attendance will be limited so an early reply will guarantee your preferences.

Payments can be given to Judith St. Gaudens or, for those who are not here in Puerto Vallarta, by direct deposit or PayPal. Please note: Using PayPal will cost an additional $5 in fees.

¡A Little help for a Big Project!

DONATIONS

The number of services that the library provides it´s community every year is impressive, around 80 thousand, but what is even more impressive is that this is even possible; Los Mangos Library depends basically on donations from people like you. Now and days the library doesn´t receive benefits, sponsorships or any kind of help to cover its operation, equipment and maintenance expenses. Each peso that is necessary to maintain the Library must be funded and is spent clearly and judgingly.

We need your help. Contribute to the library and feel the pride of giving your community a space where thousands of children, teenagers and adults find answers to broaden their opportunities and enrich their lives through culture.

You can help in hundreds of ways, the most important step is to take action!

Donations in cash or projects you can fund.

• Join the Friends of the Library: donate from 200 to 1000 pesos monthly during a year. You can do it online or call us and we will go.
• Fund a scholarship for a boy or girl in our summer camps: 25% of the attendees to summer camp are boys and girls from orphanages, shelters or in a situation of poverty. You may give them a unique experience during 4 weeks. Get to know our summer camps at Los Mangos Library.
• Adopt one of our main projects:  Invite your family, friends, neighbors, workmates, partners etc.  Choose a project, adopt it and help us maintain our facilities, update our equipment, among others, these today are our main needs:

1. Automating our catalog search
2. Mayor fumigation
3. New computers for the digital module for free service to users
4. New chairs for our reading room
5. Lighting and acoustics for the Benefactors Hall
6. Ceiling repair work in the reading room and lounges
7. Waterproofing the building

Donations in kind

It is always useful to receive:

• Stationery Supplies such as white board markers, white bond letter size paper and printer ink.
• Multifunction printers in good condition and working 100%
• Desktops in perfect condition and working 100%
• Projectors, screens, shutters and general audiovisual equipment
• Lights and fans
• White Paint
• Tables and folding chairs

Agradecimientos por el Concierto de Gala Año Nuevo / Special Thanks for the New Year's Gala Concert

Agradecemos a todos los amigos que nos acompañaron el pasado 27 de Diciembre en el Concierto Gala de Año Nuevo a Beneficio de la Biblioteca Los Mangos, realizado en el Hotel Sheraton Buganvilias, así como los artistas que se presentaron y organizadores que nos apoyaron para seguir fomentando la cultura en Puerto Vallarta.

Una mención especial por su gran aportación a este evento para el Hotel Sheraton Buganvilias, que proporciono de forma gratuita un espacio para que se llevará a cabo el mismo. Así como Tony Contreras del equipo de luces y sonido Winners, Mario Jímenez de Print, Musik Basik y Raúl Perez Amquista de LiMe Fotografía.

We want to thank all our friends who were with us the last December 27th in the New Year's Gala Concert by Sheraton Buganvilias in benefit of Los Mangos Library, all the artists and organizers who helped us to make come true this event. Once again we want to say thank you for your support and for letting us continue with the promotion of the culture in Puerto Vallarta.
